Although many trainers, educators, and presenters might prefer to spend most their time operating at the higher levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy or Gagne’s Hierarchy by focusing on understanding and application, it is undeniable that we usually can’t reach those levels without a foundation of knowledge transfer of “facts.” Many times, that foundation requires committing those facts to memory, sometimes in a rote fashion. Especially in a corporate training environment, it is often crucial for employees to be able to remember key concepts without the need for reference materials to perform their duties.
We therefore often wrestle with the problem of presenting information which requires rote memory in an engaging style with potentially good retention – we don’t want the presentation to remind our attendees of sitting in a classroom reciting the multiplication tables.
This presentation will focus specifically on an interactive demonstration of two very effective techniques for improving retention of key information. Program attendees will experience first-hand the WOW factor of discovering, “I memorized that and I didn’t even know I was learning it!” Attendees will also work with colleagues in identifying and discussing ways to customize the techniques to the individual needs and purposes of those attending.

Oh no! The travel budget is slashed and the directive is to deliver your class over the web. Now what? Have you taken webinars that have been so dreadfully boring that you’ve spent the time listening with one ear and checking e-mails instead of learning?
During this session we will look at ways to convert instructor-led designs to web delivered designs so your learners will engage, participate and learn! We’ll look at webinar applications at the generic level and discuss the features that allow the trainer to engage learners almost as actively as if they were in the classroom. Expect to come out with a list of tips and techniques that will help you transition a course to web delivery. Bring your dreadful stories as well…we’ll want to examine how not to be a boring web trainer.
